BANGOR – Telford Aviation Services has been awarded a $110 million contract by the U.S. government for aviation support services.

The Bangor company will conduct the work in locations throughout the United States.

“The award caps a long-term effort to secure additional government work for our Maine-based company and we are extremely pleased with this outcome,” said Telford Allen III, chairman of The Telford Group, the parent company of Telford Aviation Services.

Telford operates maintenance facilities for commercial and corporate aircraft at Bangor International Airport. It is also engaged in a government research and development project involving airships at Loring International Airport in Limestone.

Bob Ziegelaar, Telford president, thanked Maine’s congressional delegation for helping his company land the contract, which will be carried out during a five-year period. During the work, aircraft undergoing anticipated “heavy” maintenance checks will be flown to Maine. The Telford Group employs 125 people in Maine.
