Nokomis Regional High School, Newport
Honor parts for the Class of 2001 at Nokomis Regional High School are Emma Leadbetter, valedictorian, and Tyler Peters, salutatorian.
Leadbetter is the daughter of Mark and Ellen Leadbetter of Newport. She will attend the University of Rhode Island to study pharmacy. She is in the band, won the Girl Scout Silver Award, is a member of the National Honor Society, won the I Dare You Award for personal integrity, and was the 2001 Maine Principals’ Association Award winner at Nokomis. She also has won awards in English, earth science, western civilization, algebra, biology and French II. She was in the solo and ensemble music festival and received a flute award, band honors, and took part in the jazz ensemble.
Peters is the son of Earl and Lois Peters of Newport. He will attend New York University to study finance at the Stern School of Business. He is a National Merit Finalist, a three-year all-conference soccer player, and an Academic All-State Team member in basketball.
Honor essayists are Elzadie Martin, daughter of Mindy and Jerry Martin of Hartland; Jennifer Brooks, daughter of Bob and Angie Brooks of Palmyra; and Jennifer Bragg, daughter of Donna and Theodore Bragg of Newport.
Graduation exercises will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at the Nokomis Regional High School gymnasium.
