Payson, Rams batter Bulldogs

WINSLOW – Nick Payson had a goal and an assist as the Bangor Rams earned their third straight ice hockey win – a 5-2 decision over Lawrence at Sukee Arena Wednesday.

Bangor is now 6-2 on the season, while Lawrence of Fairfield dips to 2-5.

Joel Whitney, Dylan George, Matt Beamer and Andrew Marin also scored goals for Bangor, which led 3-1 after the first period and 4-1 after two periods of play. Ben Estabrook, Jason Eremita and T.J. Vanidestine were credited with assists for the Rams.

Lawrence (2-5) got goals from Zach Pollard and Josh Mitchell.

Bangor goalie Jamie Hardy made 10 saves on 12 shots, while Lawrence’s Allie Woods made 22 saves on 27 shots.

Boys basketball

Brewer 55, Nokomis 39

At Newport, Isaac Bell led three players in double figures with 13 points as the Witches picked up their second win.

Chris Wilson chalked up 11 points for Brewer and Ben Davis 10. Justin MacDonald pulled down eight rebounds.

Chris Dunlop, Evan McDaniel and Brandon Oldenburg each scored six for the Warriors.
