AUGUSTA – More than 300 new jobs could be created in Maine as a result of a Canadian high-tech firm’s acquisition of an Augusta-based network services company, Gov. Angus King said Tuesday.
One of Canada’s largest information technology companies, xwave, which has more than 2,300 employees, is acquiring TechKnowledge Inc., which also has an office in Lewiston and plans to open one in Bangor.
The deal includes a $4 million investment from xwave, whose parent company is Aliant, a telecommunications company for Canada’s Maritime Provinces.
TechKnowledge specializes in network services, systems integration and customized product development. The new company will be called xwave New England.
