STORRS, Conn. – Jacquilyn McGuire scored the game’s first goal off assists from Elizabeth Gallin and Megan McLeod 7:30 into the first period to spark the University of Connecticut to a 4-1 women’s hockey victory over Maine on Friday night.
Jennifer Houlden, Tiffany Owens and Leslie Hurlburt each added a goal for 7-9-5 Connecticut. Kaitlyn Shain turned away 29 of 30 shots.
Andrea Steranko scored for 11-7-3 Maine at 4:59 of the second period. Tristan Desmet and Cherly White registered assists. Rachel Gettings and Susannah Orzell combined to make 11 saves on 15 shots.

Bates 86, Middlebury 66
At Middlebury, Vt., Brian Gerrity scored 20 points to help lead keep Bates College undefeated in NESCAC competition.
Zak Ray had 17 points, five assists and three steals for Bates and Rob Stockwell added 15 points.
Clark Reed led Middlebury with 15 points. Adam Sinoway had 12 points and Bobby Marcoux had 10.
