Bangor

Maine State Bar Association

The 3,200-member Maine State Bar Association has elected new officers and members of its board of governors. Several are from the Bangor area.

. Meris J. Bickford of Bangor is the new president. She is a vice president at Merrill Merchants Bank, and has served 11 years on the bar’s board of governors.

. Brett D. Baber of Bangor is second vice president. He maintains his own law practice in Bangor.

Members of the board of governors include: Judson Esty-Kendall and Anne-Marie L. Story, both of Bangor.

Sewing machine store

Cote Bros. Sewing Machines, based in Lewiston, has opened a store at the Centre Mall, 849 Stillwater Ave. The store specializes in Bernina products, including machines, parts, attachments and classes.

Store manager is Debbie Norton. She is a former home economics teacher with many years of sewing experience. Jeff Norton is service manager and works on all brands of sewing machines and sergers.

Debbie Norton, Pam Knowles and Bonnie Sumner will teach a variety of sewing classes, including Kids Sew a Sleepover, quilting, Christmas items and tote bags. For information, call 992-2877.
