Balanced attack propels Calais past Tigerettes

EASTPORT – Danielle O’Brien tallied 11 points and Emily Smith added 10 as the Calais Blue Devils downed host Shead 54-45 in a Downeast Athletic Conference girls basketball game Wednesday night.

Tonya Cook notched a double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds for the Tigerettes.

Rollins scores 1,500th point

At Corinth, senior Jenny Rollins scored 31 points, including her 1,500th career point, to lead the host Red Devils to victory.

Rollins entered the game needing just four points to become her school’s first 1,500-point scorer, and reached the milestone early in the first quarter.

Rollins also grabbed seven rebounds for Central, while Danielle Collins added nine points.

Crystal Bridges led Sumner of East Sullivan with 11 points.
