Woman’s pockets picked at nightspot

A woman had her coat pockets picked early Sunday morning at Benjamin’s on Franklin Street in Bangor while she was on the dance floor.

The woman, who had left the coat unattended, noticed a man loitering near her table. When she checked her coat, she found that $60, two packs of cigarettes, a cell phone, her keys and a bottle of N.Y.C. clear nail polish were missing.

Bangor police Officer Erik Tall took down the information and left but was called back 20 minutes later when an argument was reported. He found the theft victim and another woman yelling at Damon Pelletier, 31, no address given.

The woman said that Pelletier looked like the man who had loitered near her coat. When she confronted him and asked him to empty his pockets, a bottle of N.Y.C. clear nail polish fell out.

After speaking with Pelletier, Tall issued him a summons for theft.

A Bangor police officer answering a report of a disorderly customer at 11:05 p.m. Friday at Judy’s on State Street gave Ted Mannette, 29, of Bangor a warning for disorderly conduct and trespass and sent him on his way.

The officer then was informed by police dispatch that a warrant was outstanding for Mannette’s arrest. He was tracked down nearby, arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail.

A car accident on Ohio Street in Bangor on Sunday afternoon was caused by a woman who allegedly failed to see an oncoming car before she made a left turn.

Danielle Fish of Bangor turned onto Ohio Street from Blue Hill West in her 1999 van into the path of a 1993 Buick driven by Timothy Weeks of Kenduskeag.

The two vehicles collided, causing $1,000 in damage to Fish’s van and $3,500 in damage to Weeks’ car.

An officer answering a report of a vehicle off Interstate 95 in Bangor at 2:25 a.m. Saturday found a visibly intoxicated man standing near a truck that was stuck in a snowbank.

When the officer asked Robert Bagley, 33, of Bangor if he had been driving, he said no, but that it was his truck. When asked how he got there, Bagley told the officer that he didn’t know. No one else was around, and no footprints were found leading from the passenger door.

Bagley allegedly had a strong smell of alcoholic beverage on his breath, slurred speech, watery and bloodshot eyes and was swaying from side to side, according to the police reports.

He failed field sobriety tests and was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.18 percent.

Bagley was issued a summons for operating under the influence.
