Griffin leads Royals by WA to DAC title

JONESPORT – Ross Griffin scored 28 points to lead the Jonesport-Beals Royals to a 70-63 boys basketball win over the Washington Academy Raiders in the Downeast Athletic Conference final Monday night.

Joseph Libby poured in another 26 points and Timmy Holmes had 10 for the Royals.

James Ramsdell scored 14 for the Raiders of East Machias and Jarred Sternbergh had 12.

At the Bangor Auditorium, Matt MacKenzie notched 15 of his 17 points in the second half to help the Panthers of Waldoboro pull ahead.

Steven Bannah also scored 17 for Medomak. Sam Lash and Zac Armstrong each had 10.

George Keefe led the Crusaders with 17 points and Travis Carey had 13.

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Kevin Brooks scored two goals and recorded an assist to lead the Broncos to their 12th win.

Jason Huntley, Chris Pease, Ian Lee, Nick Beal and Matt Soucy each added a goal for the winners. Ryan Richards and Cam Murray combined for four saves.

Old Town goalies J.P. Stowe and Jason Trask combined for 40 saves.
