Hall, White lift Hermon by Erskine MA Lynx, Greenville gain prelim victories

HERMON – Malerie Hall scored 10 of her game-high 17 points in the third quarter as sixth seed Hermon outscored No. 11 Erskine Academy of South China 20-13 to gain some breathing room en route to a 53-40 Eastern Maine Class B schoolgirl preliminary win Tuesday night.

Cassie White scored 15 points for Hermon. Paige Macdonald had 10 points and Erica Armstrong added five steals.

Morgan Malley led Erskine with 14 points and Chelsea Colby added nine points.

At Sukee Arena in Winslow, Nick Payson scored three goals as the Rams avenged a loss to the Eagles earlier this season.

Ben Estabrook tallied a goal and Dylan George dished out two assists for 13-4 Bangor. Aaron Buzzell had 32 saves on 33 shots.

Phil Mason scored an unassisted goal for 10-6 Oakland-based Messalonskee. Zach Parent stopped 26 out of 30 shots.

Houlton-Hodgdon 6, Stearns 2

At Houlton, Jordan Gard and Tyler Hutchinson each scored two goals to lead Houlton-Hodgdon to victory.

Chris Howland had a goal and an assist for 9-5-2 Houlton-Hodgdon and Mitch Hall scored a goal. Zach Chase and Ian Pasquarelli each had two assists as Aaron Fitzpatrick made 19 saves on 21 shots.

Mike Simon and Garrett Rollins each had a goal and an assist for 1-13-1 Stearns of Millinocket. Jay Kim stopped 43 of 49 shots.

Foxcroft 4, Old Town 2

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Adam Conway knocked in two goals and dished out an assist as the Ponies earned the win.

Mike Winkler and Dan Rosebush tallied a goal each for 6-10 Foxcroft and Derek Smith had two assists. Ian Imbert added another, and Dan Perkins made 34 saves on 36 shots.

James Dubay scored both goals for the 1-16 Indians with Chris Cooney and Jason Smith each getting an assist. J.P. Stowe and Jason Trask combined to stop 27 out of 31 shots.
