Windover empowers young filmmakers

NEWBURGH – Each spring, Windover Art Center holds a filmmaking competition for local pupils, the Windover Filmmaker’s Prize.

The challenge to students was, “Imagine, if you could make a movie. What would it be about? Tell us a story!”

Last spring, many children mailed stories, and Windover chose two winners:

. Rose Miller of Bangor, “Molly and Ginnis.”

. Jacob Caron of Eddington, “The Sacred Box.”

Rose and Jacob spent several weeks at Windover last summer making their stories into short films with the assistance of professional filmmakers.

This spring Windover will choose two more winners.

Local students between the ages of 7 and 14 who would like to enter the Windover Filmmaker’s Prize may submit a short story to Windover Filmmaker’s Prize, 3001 Kennebec Road, Newburgh 04444.

The deadline for submissions is June 1.
