Flags lowered to honor slain customs agent

BANGOR – The flags are flying at half-staff at the U.S. Federal Building on Harlow Street and all federal buildings in the country where Immigrations and Customs Enforcement employees work.

Flags are being lowered in honor of David G. Wilhelm, the ICE agent believed to be the last victim of the Georgia courthouse killer, Brian Nichols, who began his shooting rampage March 11.

Flags will remain at half-staff until further notice is given from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, according to Fred Carter, General Services Administration property manager at the federal building.
