A desk attendant at the EconoLodge in Bangor called police to have two males, whose loud behavior was disturbing other lodgers, removed from the premises early Thursday morning. After receiving a noise complaint, the attendant called the men in Room 317 and asked them to quiet down. After additional complaints of noise from two other rooms, the attendant called the police to have the men, one of whom urinated in the elevator, removed.
Officer Erik Tall went to the room where a loud television and voices could be heard, and sent Brad Branson, 28, of New Orleans and Ryan O’neil, 30, of Jacksonville, Fla., from the building. Someone from a neighboring hotel called to report seeing the men in the back parking lot, and a customer recognized the men, who returned with pizza and beer to the building by entering on a lower floor. The attendant called police, who went at 2:40 a.m. to Room 224, where a man who worked with the two was staying. Tall was let into the room where O’neil and Branson were arrested for criminal trespass, and they were taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
Two women and a juvenile were summoned for shoplifting $33.36 worth of alcohol and food items from a Shaw’s grocery store at about 8 p.m. Wednesday. Donna Decesere, 21; Korin Green, 20; and an intoxicated 16-year-old female, all of Bangor, were stopped by police on High Street in Bangor.
A Shaw’s representative called to report the theft, giving a description of the women, who were carrying a Shaw’s bag and a 2-liter bottle of Pepsi. Questioned separately by Bangor police Officer E.A. Mercer, the juvenile stated that she had not entered the store at all; Green claimed that she and Decesere were in the store and shared the cost of $40 to $45 worth of items, yet couldn’t recall who paid what amount or which line they went through. Decesere stated that she and Green had entered the store, and purchased $45 of goods, Decesere purchasing a bottle of rum, as she was the only one of the three who was of legal age to purchase alcohol. Unmentioned was the bottle of Crown Royal found in the bag with a pack of hot dogs, snack bars and chips. All three were summoned for theft and the juvenile was referred to juvenile court and released to her sister.
An estimated $1,200 worth of AM-FM radios was stolen from four vehicles at the Quirk Bean & Conquest annex on Summer Street between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The radios were removed from four used cars. According to police reports by Officer Edward Potter, radios were pulled and wires were cut in all four vehicles; a Pontiac Grand Am had an additional $250 in damage to the dashboard, which had been sawed by an unknown tool.
Terry Shortt of Orono was surprised when a strange man climbed into his vehicle when he was stopped in traffic on Water Street in Bangor at about 11 a.m. Thursday. As Shortt waited by the Freese’s building, a man wearing glasses, a white T-shirt and dark pants opened the passenger door of his truck, entered the vehicle and closed the door. The man sat silently as Shortt told him to leave the vehicle.
Shortt told reporting officer C. Ramsey that he found it very “unnerving” and was concerned about the man’s intentions. Shortt removed his keys, left the vehicle and then opened the passenger side door, taking the man by the shirt to pull him from the truck. The man then left on his own accord. Shortt visited the Bangor Police Department, where it was found that the description of his would-be passenger matched Bangor resident Randal Quesinberry, who allegedly generates numerous complaints to police for similar behavior. He had been summoned recently for disorderly conduct. An officer then attempted to locate Quesinberry to serve him an additional summons for disorderly conduct.
A complaint regarding a paving crew on Carroll Street in Old Town led to three arrests on Thursday. The crew members, who were soliciting business among residents in the area, were in violation of laws, which require three days to pass after a contract is signed, but before the contracted work can be started. The contracts also did not have the required Maine registration number.
Sgt. Michael Hashey of the Old Town Police Department stated that the paving equipment was towed. Christopher Evans, 19, of Lyman was arrested for operating after suspension and two other crew members were arrested on outstanding warrants. Philip Levesque, 39, of Buxton was wanted for a burglary in Sagadahoc County, and Christopher Roby, 27, of Biddeford was wanted for a failure to appear in York County for operating after suspension.
