CASTINE – Carolyn McAvoy hit a double and two singles to drive in a run and help lead the Husson College softball team to an 8-7 win over Maine Maritime Academy and a sweep of a doubleheader Tuesday. The Eagles also won the first game 7-3.
In the first game, Jordon Pruett tripled to drive in two runs for Husson. Nicole Manzo had a double and two RBIs and McAvoy had a RBI double.
Chelsie Carver doubled and singled for the Mariners and Jessica Taylor hit a triple to score a run. Amy Asselin and Amanda Stover each doubled to knock in a run.
In the second game, Shawna Bell hit two singles to knock in a run and scored twice for the Eagles and Deanna Maxim had two singles with a RBI.
Caitlyn Grant hit a triple and scored two runs for Maine Maritime and Kristen Gaylord had two singles with a RBI. Maegan Cloutier doubled and scored a run.
