Donald Smith, president of Quoddy Bay LLC, who is still trying to bring an LNG terminal to Perry, has made statements recently in which he expresses the opinion that people who voted against his proposal were operating with false information. He’s absolutely right.
After all, it was Smith himself who assured the community that, in the event that the town voted against the proposed terminal, he would honor that decision and go home. Yet, he’s still here, still spinning his story to the media, still distorting facts, still trying to get his way in spite of the reality that the townspeople have made their opinion on the matter very clear.
It’s time for Smith to directly address the problem of false information being spread during his campaign; he can best accomplish this by making good on his own promise to abide by the wishes of the voters and go away.
