Worcester Peat opens with split

BREWER – Mike Kane allowed only two hits and struck out 10 in 5 2/3 innings of work to lead Worcester Peat to a 4-3 win over Mainway Landscaping in the opening game of a Portland Twilight League baseball doubleheader Saturday.

Mainway Landscaping won the nightcap 11-8.

In the first game, Toby Cole ripped two singles with three RBIs while Tim Patchell also hit two singles and Darren Daniels doubled and scored a run for Worcester Peat. Nick Caiazzo, Mike Fullerton, and Matt Webb each belted a single for Mainway.

In game two, Caiazzo homered and singled for two RBIs to lead Mainway.

Mike Fullerton ripped a double and two singles while Mark O’Brien singled and doubled with three RBIs for Mainway.

Seth Cole led the Worcester Peat attack with two doubles and a single with two RBIs, and Daniels and Aaron Largay added a double, single, and two RBIs each.
