Passengers will be able to catch seasonal daily jet service to Minneapolis from Bangor International Airport starting June 9, according to a prepared statement from the airport Monday. BIA Director Rebecca L. Hupp said in the press release she was pleased about the additional service, which will be flown on a 50-passenger Canadair Regional Jet. “The service to Minneapolis is a wonderful complement to our other existing service and enables passengers to reach additional destinations in the West with just one stop.” Tom Bach, vice president of Airlink and market planning for Northwest, echoed Hupp’s comments. He said, “The Minneapolis service will provide new options to our existing Detroit service for visitors to experience the beauty of the Maine highlands.” City Council Chairman and Mayor Frank Farrington expressed his optimism about the “continued growth in travel options” from BIA. “The addition of the Northwest Airlines service from choices for people operated by Minneapolis will certainly enhance the travel the city of Bangor, but is supported through airport wanting to visit the Bangor region,” he said in the statement.
