Fields paces Raiders past Knights

EAST MACHIAS – Mark Fields rapped three singles as he drove in four runs as the Washington Academy Raiders downed Narraguagus 12-7 in high school baseball action Monday.

Nick Wood doubled and singled twice to bring in three more runs for Washington Academy. Jason Labonte and Jeff Ramsdell each added two singles.

Corey Worcester led the Knights of Harrington to an opening lead with a grand slam in the top of the second. He also had a double and a single. Matt Tenan knocked a solo home run, and Ben Grant had three singles.

At Lee, junior righthander Tyler Thompson gave up four hits in six innings and aided his own cause with a two-run homer and RBI double to lead Lee by the Dragons.

Thompson struck out nine and walked six.

Everett Houghton chipped in with two doubles, a single, and an RBI for the winners, and Blaine Clark doubled twice and drove in a run. Derek Worster had a double, single, and RBI, and Gerry Worster had a double and RBI.

Kyle Metcalf doubled, singled, and drove in a run for Woodland.

At East Machias, Ashley Tilton drove in three runs with two singles as the Raiders beat out Narraguagus of Harrington.

Megan Look singled and doubled for another three RBIs, while Lauren Finn had three singles and two RBIs. Mary Mawhinny and Ashley Day each singled twice to bring in a run for Washington Academy.

Bethany Grant and Megan Nevels had one single apiece for the Knights.

Lee 31, Woodland 2

At Lee, Brooke Harris allowed one hit over five innings and her Lee Academy Pandas piled up 21 runs in the first inning to start the season with a big victory.

Harris had nine strikeouts and four walks to notch the win. Shelby Pickering had a triple, a single, and seven RBIs, six of which came in the first.

Liz Reed paced Lee with four singles; Aarika Ritchie had a triple, single, and five RBIs; and Amanda Gifford added a double, single, and four RBIs.

Gena Clark’s second-inning triple was the lone hit for the Dragons, who were missing four players and had no subs.

At Rockport, Katie Bonney scored four goals to lead the Red Eddies of Auburn to victory.

Danielle Martineau and Beth Esponette each added three goals for 1-1 EL, and Joanna Hughes made 13 saves.

Margaret Buell paced the 1-1 Windjammers with three goals and Lindsey Clement added two. Sarah Doubleday, Laura MacKinnon, Fallon Atkinson, and Megan Bauer each had a goal. Erika Johnson made nine saves and Brittany Meservey had two.
