Two projects launched to aid victims of crime

Two projects that will help crime victims have been started by the Catholic Charities Maine Rapid Response Program in recognition of the 25th anniversary of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

Project Connection is a partnership of Catholic Charities Maine Rapid Response, Maine State Police Troops J and F, Criminal Investigations Division III and the Washington and Aroostook County sheriffs’ departments.

It aims to provide support and information to rural crime victims in Washington and Aroostook counties by providing information and telephone contact with victims within 24 hours to answer questions about the criminal justice system.

Opening Doors to Our Community, a project co-sponsored by the Rapid Response program and the Calais Police Department, will give area residents information on how to help victims of crime.

Call 255-6054 for information about crime victim services in Washington County and 532-5490 for Aroostook County.

Call 255-6037 for help in replacing damaged locks and other security items.
