BANGOR – Gwen Wadleigh pitched a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead the John Bapst Crusaders to a 14-2 high school softball win over the Foxcroft Academy Ponies in the mutual opener Wednesday at Husson College.
Rachel Stearns laced two singles and drove in a run while Hilary Laferriere had three singles for John Bapst. Gwen Carter tripled.
Sarah Anderson’s single was the Ponies’ lone hit.

At Lincoln, Tyler Poirier hit a two-run double and a sacrifice fly, good for a three-RBI day as the Tigers triumphed.
Tim McCarthy had three singles and an RBI for Dexter while Eric Day singled twice and scored a pair of runs.

At Corinth, winning pitcher Mike Burnett capped a two-out, five-run rally in the fourth inning with a grand slam to pace Piscataquis Community High of Guilford to its win.
Burnett also had a run-scoring single; Shane Tracy had three singles and two RBIs and Wayne Clukey and Richie Tompkins had two singles each.
Kurt Smith had two singles and two RBIs for Central and Colby Brown doubled.

Ryan Weston doubled and Josh Frost singled for the Patriots.

At Eastport, Josh Francis hit a three-run triple to spark an eight-run first-inning uprising that led the undefeated Tigers to the five-inning victory.
Francis also had an RBI single for Shead, while Cody Bulmer hit a two-run triple and a double; Mike Cummings had two singles and two RBIs; and Jacob Stanley also singled twice.
Aaron Sullivan and Derek Maloney combined to pitch a five-hitter.
Tim Holmes paced Jonesport-Beals with a two-run single, and Reggie Mitchell singled twice.
