Motorcycle show set for waterfront

BANGOR – United Bikers of Maine will sponsor a motorcycle show along the waterfront on Saturday, May 21, in Bangor. Rain date is May 22.

Rodeo games will take place 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. with a $3 entry fee. The bike show is scheduled for 1-3:30 p.m. and has a $5 entry fee. Prizes will be awarded. The day also will feature door prizes, food and vendors.

The show is free and open to the public. A fee of $1 is asked from those who wish to vote for the best bike in the show. That ticket will enter the holder in drawings for door prizes donated by local businesses.

This show would not be possible without all the support of local sponsors and Bangor’s department of economic development, said Erin Smith, event coordinator. “We are grateful for their help and contributions,” she said.

The event, Smith said, is fun to watch and participate in. It allows those who ride to get together and see friends they haven’t seen since the bikes were put away last fall.

United Bikers of Maine is a nonprofit organization founded in 1975 and is an advocate for the rights of Maine motorcyclists. The organization promotes the safe and lawful operation of motorcycles. Membership is open to those interested in the rights of motorcyclists.

Proceeds from the motorcycle show will benefit local charities.
