Caribou sweeps Nokomis

CARIBOU – Caribou pitchers allowed just six hits as the Vikings swept a baseball doubleheader from Nokomis of Newport 3-1 and 11-1 on Saturday.

In the opener, John Noyes had two singles and an RBI to lead Caribou and Kyle Corrigan singled.

Isaac Osborne, Eric Ballard and Ryan Creighton all singled for Nokomis.

In the nightcap, Dustin Haines had two singles and two RBIs while Corrigan had a pair of singles and an RBI as the Vikings got the sweep.

John Stinsman had two doubles for the Warriors and Derek Boillard a single.

At Fort Fairfield, Andrew Kirchner allowed only one hit while striking out 11 and walking two to help Limestone/MSSM to a win.

Kirchner also had both of the Eagles’ hits, a single and a double, to bring in two runs.

Jake Kenneson also allowed only one hit while striking out 13 and walking seven for the Tigers. He also had an RBI double to drive in Fort Fairfield’s only run.

At Ellsworth, Louden Jellison hit a two-run homer and RBI triple to lead the Eagles to the win.

Andy Berry hat three singles and two RBIs while Cory Smith notched a double, single and plated three runs for Ellsworth.

Travis Dunton had two triples, a single and an RBI for the Red Riots and Ben Strout doubled, singled and knocked in a run.

At East Sullivan, Chris Cowperthwaite and Mason Young each hit a two-run double and Mike Savoy added a two-run single to highlight’s Sumner’s seven-run fifth inning en route to victory over the Eagles.

Cowperthwaite finished with two doubles, a single and four RBIs for the winners. A.J. Pennartz added a double, single and two RBIs, Jeff Burditt singled twice and John Stewart had an RBI single.

Andy Berry slammed a two-run triple and a single for Ellsworth.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Logan Forrest had three singles and three RBIs as the Ponies avenged an earlier loss and handed the Tigers their first defeat.

Caleb Pelletier had two singles and Matt Carey a double for Foxcroft. Justin Freeman hit two singles and drove in a run while also pitching a complete game

Tim McCarthy hit a pair of solo homers and doubled to pace Dexter. Mark Pullen had two singles and an RBI and Chris Rabideau added a double.

At Bangor, Brian Hackett held the Indians to two hits, striking out nine and walking five. He also brought in two runs for Bangor with a double in the bottom of the third.

Jordan Heath, Gordon Webb and Jason Eremita each singled twice for the Rams.

Brad Perry and Nathan Lonko had a single apiece for Old Town.

At Brewer, Matt Grimes singled and knocked out a two run home run in the second as the Witches blew by Bucksport.

Joey Carmichael singled twice for the Golden Bucks.

Wildcats, Crusaders split

At Bangor, Dani Grenier singled and doubled to help Presque Isle win the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader against John Bapst 5-2. John Bapst won the second game 8-1.

In the first game, Ali Donovan added two singles and an RBI for the Wildcats.

Megan Brown tripled and Marci Scofield doubled for the Crusaders.

In the second game, Rachel Stearns and Amy Adams each singled three times for John Bapst, while Dani Richard tripled and singled for two RBIs. Gwen Wadleigh and Heather Laferriere each had two singles.

Katie Delong, Angela Norsworthy and Donovan had two singles apiece for the Wildcats.

Caribou, Nokomis split

At Caribou, Emily St. Peter and Kyla Zetterman had RBI singles during a six-run sixth-inning rally that lifted Caribou to a 7-2 win in the second game of their doubleheader.

Nokomis of Newport scored nine runs in the second inning of the opener and went on to an 18-3 win.

In the first game, Michelle Barden had a triple and single with three RBIs, while Alyssa Bragdon doubled and singled and scored twice.

Christy Zbylut singled twice for Caribou, while Jessica Kinney scored two runs.

In the second game, Kinney had two singles for the Vikings, while Ali Richards added an RBI double.

Bragdon had a triple and three singles for Nokomis.

At Fort Fairfield, Britteny Strout singled three times and drove in two runs for the Tigers. She also struck out seven while allowing only four hits and walking five on the mound.

Kelsey Towle and Kelley Osgood each had two singles and an RBI for Fort Fairfield. Whitney Searles added a triple.

Lindsey Beaulieu singled to bring in one run for the Eagles.

Jonesport-Beals earns sweep

At Jonesport, Rachelle Parker’s two-run single in the bottom of the seventh lifted Jonesport-Beals past Deer Isle-Stonington 18-17 in the first game of a doubleheader.

The Royals blanked the Mariners 12-0 in the second game.

In the first game, Parker finished with three singles, a double and seven RBIs. Sarah Beal had two singles and a double while Kelsey Holmes singled twice.

Anna Boyce hit two singles while Christina Fifield doubled and singled for the Mariners.

In the second game, Tiffany Alley pitched a five-inning shutout, giving up just three hits.

Kristi Smith hit a pair of doubles and singled, driving in five runs, while Parker notched two doubles and a single and knocked in four runs.

Whitney Haskell, Erin Bray and Mary Parker all singled for Deer Isle-Stonington.

Tiffany Martinez had two singles, a triple and four RBIs for the Tigers of Eastport and Whitney Vincent doubled, singled twice and plated four runs.
