Strout, Tigers avenge only loss

FORT FAIRFIELD – Britteny Strout threw a one-hitter, striking out three and walking one, and Ruthie Arata knocked in five runs with three singles as Fort Fairfield avenged its only loss with a 13-1 softball win over Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook Tuesday.

Southern Aroostook beat Fort Fairfield 16-10 last week.

Shannon Towle knocked in four runs with a double and a single and Kaylee Searles contributed two singles and two RBIs for the Tigers.

Audrey Charette singled for Southern Aroostook.

At Ashland, Pam Spooner pitched a three-hitter while striking out 11 hitters and walking three as her Hornets notched their 10th win.

Whitney Flint hit a three-run triple and an RBI single to lead Ashland’s offense. Beth Chamberlin had two singles and Spooner added a two-run single.

Chelsie Bates paced Katahdin of Stacyville with an RBI single in the third.

At Van Buren, Iris Guimond scattered five hits over five innings and Leah Babin drove in three runs with three singles to pace Fort Kent.

Guimond didn’t walk anybody and struck out three.

Kristen Labrie had three singles and two RBIs.

Krystal Deschaine had two singles for Van Buren, which was victimized by 15 errors.

At Hodgdon, Sara Brewer hit a two-run homer, three singles and drove in six runs to lead the Hawks to their first win.

Heather London doubled twice, singled and plated four runs for Hodgdon. Brianne McGary had three singles and two RBIs and Tasha Dwyer a double, single and four RBIs.

Katie Day had a pair of singles for the Panthers of Mars Hill.

Alicia Tenney had three singles, a double and knocked in four runs for the Knights. Chelsea Baker and Bethany Grant each had two singles and an RBI for ‘Guagus and Mary Eva Tennan a triple, single and two RBIs.

Tiffany Wormell had two singles and Lacey Gillespie a double for the Dragons.

At Ashland, Patrick Willett threw a five-inning two-hitter, striking out 10 and walking one, and O’Neil Qualey paced a 12-hit attack with two doubles and two RBIs.

Willett tripled and singled and had an RBI and Owen McCarthy singled twice.

Brandon Flint’s double and Kevin Baker’s single were the only hits off Willett.

Adam Jandreau and Tim Devaney led the Warriors with two singles apiece while Joe Soucy had two singles and an RBI.
