Pooler lifts MDI by GSA in ninth

BANGOR – Andy Pooler singled to score Sam Burne and break a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Mount Desert Island Trojans to a 7-6 high school baseball win over the George Stevens Academy Eagles Friday.

Pooler finished with three singles. Marcus Maffuci also singled three times, driving in two runs. Kyle Shea doubled three times and had one RBI, and Dustin Dunn doubled, singled, and also had an RBI.

Collin Henry singled and hit a home run to bring in two runs for the Eagles. Josh Astbury added two singles.

At Belfast, Joe Clark tossed a two-hitter, striking out five, and aided his own cause with a three-run homer in the third inning as the Eagles of Newcastle downed the Lions.

Ryan Parlin posted a solo homer in the seventh. He also had a single and double, and finished with two RBIs. Patrick Howell had a double, two singles, and an RBI.

Josh Gallant topped the Lions with an RBI double.

At Bucksport, Nye Gifford allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out nine to lead Bucksport to the shutout win.

Chris Maguire singled three times to drive in two runs for Bucksport. Joey Carmichael had two singles and an RBI and Teddy Cooke added to singles.

Louden Jellison, Cory Smith, Chris Edgecomb, and Eric Folmer each singled for Ellsworth.

At Searsport, Josh Nickerson and Nate Adams combined for one hit and one walk while striking out seven to push the Vikings past Sumner of East Sullivan.

Caleb Ashey hit a two-run home run in the third inning for Searsport. Bobby Seger doubled and singled to drive in three runs, and Nickerson also doubled and singled with two RBIs.

A.J. Pennartz singled in the first inning for Sumner.

At Winslow, Kevin McCabe earned his second straight shut-out for the Raiders, allowing seven hits, striking out five, and walking two.

Justin Lindie singled twice and doubled once to drive in two runs for Winslow, while brother Ryan singled three times for one RBI. Eric Lopez singled twice for one RBI, and Corey Martin had a double and a single.

Noah Burke, Michael Cummings, and Christian Pieri each had two singles for the Windjammers.

At the Winkin Complex field in Bangor, Hunter Umphrey doubled and tripled as he drove in three runs for the Crusaders.

Travis Dunton had two singles for the Red Riots, and Travis Bryant had a triple.

DI-S, BC post victories

At Deer Isle, the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners defeated Bangor Christian 6-2, but then the BC Patriots came back for a 10-2 victory over Jonesport-Beals in their second game of the day.

Collin Ciomei three-hit BC in the first game and was backed by a two-run home run by Nick Ciomei. Collin Ciomei also had an RBI single.

Micah Dougherty cranked a solo homer for BC.

In the day’s second game, Aaron Wilson turned in a 4-for-4 effort that included a double and RBI to spark the Patriots. Justin Phinney chipped in with three singles.

Ryan Geel doubled for J-B.

At Rumford, Lindsey Clement scored six goals and Gwen Maddox added four as the Windjammers of Rockport cruised.

Windjammer goalies Brittany Meservey and Erika Johnson combined for seven saves.

Jessica Allen had five goals for the Falcons, and goalie Rachel Calden made nine saves.

At Narraguagus, Stephanie Whitman singled, stole second, then scored the winning run on an error as Machias won the first of two games 15-14. East Grand won the second game 9-6.

In the first game, Whitman singled three times and doubled twice. Christi Holmes singled three times, doubled, and hit a home run as well as scoring the tying run for the Bulldogs.

Elisha Dodge singled five times to drive in three runs for the Vikings of Danforth. Sarah Rodier had four singles with an RBI, while Ryanne Flannery had three singles and an RBI.

In the second game, Allie McKay led East Grand with two singles, a double, and two RBIs. Rodier added two singles, a double, and an RBI.

Holmes singled three times to bring in two runs for Machias. Whitney Baker had two singles and an RBI.

At Searsport, Hollie Stanwood scored the winning run in the sixth inning on a Nichole Leach two-out single to give Sumner of East Sullivan the win.

Jody Pinkham had three singles to drive in a run for Sumner. Stanwood doubled and singled and Kayla Higgins hit a two-run single.

Liz Smythe doubled and singled to knock in two runs for Searsport. Sheila Wilbur had a double and a single with an RBI and Meghan Brassbridge doubled and singled.

At Bucksport, Catie Cravens allowed just one run on four hits and three walks while striking out three to lead Ellsworth to victory.

At Harrington, Darcey Gillespie hit a two-run double in the top of the seventh inning to lead Calais past Narraguagus.

Alicia Tenney doubled and tripled to knock in a run for Narraguagus.

John Bapst, Orono take wins

At Hampden, Gwen Wadleigh allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out 16 to lead John Bapst of Bangor to the shutout win over Orono in the first game. Orono took the second game 10-3 over Foxcroft Academy.

In the first game, Meaghan Brown doubled and triple to drive in a run for John Bapst. Danielle Richards had two singles and Hillary Lafemiere added an RBI double.

Emily Balaban doubled and singled for Orono.

In the second game, Michelle Nickerson hit a three-run triple for Orono and Jessica Bates had a double and two singles to knock in a run. Kaeley Spinney tripled and Chelsea Paul ahd two singles.

Coral Goggin doubled and singled for Foxcroft as Sarah Anderon and Danielle Boulier both hit RBI doubles.

Dorothy Leighton had two singles and an RBI for Averill. Sarah Mack and Amy Goldberg each singled twice.
