Graves sparks Penquis Hampden, MA, BC post victories

MILO – Dani Graves pitched a five-hitter with 12 strikeouts to lead the Penquis Patriots to a 12-0 high school softball victory over the Searsport Vikings Tuesday.

Graves also doubled to ignite a three-run rally in the first inning that gave Penquis the lead for good.

Graves finished with a double and a single, while Suzanne Johnson had a single and two RBIs and Damara Whitmore and Steph Johnston each had a single and one RBI.

Sheila Wilbur paced Searsport with a double and a single, while Abby Tripp singled twice and Theresa Cameron doubled.

At Bucksport, Kristy Allen threw a one-hitter, striking out four and walking one as the Golden Bucks rolled by Orono.

Jill Richards singled twice and doubled twice to drive in three runs for Bucksport. Brittni Adams singled and doubled to bring in another three runs. Tarren Hall singled once and doubled twice for two RBIs, while Jen Maurackus had two singles and one RBI.

At Hampden, Erika Veinote and Lacey Littlefield combined on a one-hitter, striking out eight and walking two, and Hampden Academy scored all three runs in the first inning.

Jenna Shue walked, Michelle Wells singled, a two-out walk and a passed ball produced the first run, and a walk and another passed ball made it 2-0 before Ashley Gott hit an RBI single.

Emily Thompson had the other hit for Hampden, a single.

Old Town’s lone hit was Jen Higgins’ third-inning single.

Liz Bergeron and Jamie Gomm three-hit the Broncos with three strikeouts and six walks.

At Rockland, Ali Wellman hit a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Kasey Felt and give Rockland the win.

Caitlin Hynes allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out five for Rockland and Felt doubled.

Macky Sullivan doubled and tripled for Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield and Jordan Kennedy allowed just one run on four hits and five walks while striking out 13.

At Husson College in Bangor, Nia Megguier allowed just one run on four hits and one walk while striking out two to lead Mount Desert Island past John Bapst.

Megguier doubled and singled to drive in a run for the Trojans and Stephanie Shiste had two singles and two runs scored.

Racheal Stearns hit two singles and scored a run for John Bapst and Gwen Carter hit an RBI single in the fourth inning.

At Guilford, Jordan McCafferty hit a three-run triple in the third inning to lead Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln to victory.

Shannon Pietras had three singles for Mattanawcook. Bree Hanscom had two singles and three runs and Kaitlyn Shorey singled twice with two runs scored.

Kellie Martel hit an RBI single for Piscataquis and Jessica Pratt singled and walked.

Bangor Chr. sweeps Katahdin

At Bangor, Tanisha Vadas walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead Bangor Christian to the 8-7 win in the first game. The Patriots also won the second game 14-5.

In the first game, Amber Leathers and Christin Pelletier each doubled for Bangor Christian and Cala Dearborn had two singles.

Brittany Landry had a double and two singles with an RBI for Katahdin of Stacyville. Lindsay Albert doubled and singled to drive in a run and Shelly Martin added two singles.

In the second game, Leathers hit a three-run triple and a single for Bangor Christian. Pelletier had a double and two singles and Annie Babineau added two singles and an RBI.

Ronnie Robinson, Clarissa Gallagher, and Brooke Smallwood each singled for Katahdin.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Alex Yates singled twice with an RBI to help lead John Bapst to the win in its final regular-season game.

Kyle Gallant and Hunter Umphrey each added an RBI single for John Bapst.

Jake Willis doubled and singled with an RBI for Mount Desert Island. Marcus Maffucci and Kyle Shea each had two singles.

Nick Emery singled in the second inning for Penquis.

Chris Maguire knocked out a home run and a single to bring in three runs for the Golden Bucks. Nye Gifford also had a home run and a single.

At Rockland, Steve McGuire hit a bases-loaded RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead Rockland.

Wade Oliver hit three singles for Rockland and David Benner hit an RBI double.

Andrew de Bethune hit an RBI single in the seventh inning to tie the game for Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield.

At Corinth, Chris Rabideau pitched a five-hitter and aided his own cause with a solo homer as the Tigers won their 14th game.

Rabideau struck out eight and walked two and was helped out by Tim McCarthy’s solo homer and single. Mark Pullen chipped in with a double, two singles and two RBIs and Sam Bowers and Aaron Woodman each had two singles and an RBI.

Mike Julian recorded a solo home run, RBI triple and single for the Red Devils.

Freshman Joe Ritto hit a two-out two-run single in the sixth to tie the game for Schenck. Jordan Pelkey hit an RBI triple. Chris Byron had two singles and Aaron Waite doubled.

Katahdin, Bangor Chr. split

At Husson College in Bangor, O’Neil Qualey drove in Jordan Qualey in the top of the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly to give Katahdin of Stacyville the 7-6 win in the first game over Bangor Christian. The Patriots won the second game 5-4.

In the first game, Jared Anderson hit a two-run home run and a single for Katahdin and Keith Anderson added a three-run triple.

Philip Dougherty doubled and singled for Bangor Christian and Josh Frost hit a two-run single.

In the second game, Willy Hinkley doubled and singled with an RBI for the Patriots and Philip Dougherty added an RBI single.

Patrick Willett hit a solo home run in the third inning for Katahdin and Cameron Cunningham had two RBIs on fielder’s choices. Cameron Cunningham struck out 10.

Justin Lindie doubled and singled to drive in two runs for Winslow and McCabe drove in a run with a double and a single. Eric Lopez and Corey Martin both hit an RBI double.
