SEARSPORT – Searsport District High School Principal Gregg Palmer has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2005.

Nathaniel Seekins, son of Louise and Darrell Seekins of Searsport, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2005.

He is winner of the 2005 Maine Principals’ Award, was the student of the quarter his sophomore year and student of the month at Waldo County Technical Center his senior year. He was a member of National Honor Society his sophomore, junior and senior years and a member of National Junior Honor Society in the seventh, eighth and ninth grades. He has maintained high honors his entire high school career. He was involved in drama, set design and lighting, receiving awards in lighting, sound, technical design and best set design in 2003, 2004 and 2005. He served as lighting designer for the Belfast Maskers in their production of “A Christmas Carol” in his senior year, was technical director of the school’s newly formed radio station, and served as an all-district theater volunteer from 1998 through 2005.

He attended Maine Youth Leadership as an ambassador in 2003 and facilitator in 2004. He was president of his sophomore class, vice president of his freshman class. He presented at the fall conference of the Coalition of Essential Schools in San Francisco on its role and function and again at the spring forum in Portland. He assisted in the blood drive organization, served as a tour guide for freshmen in his sophomore, junior and senior years and as a guide for the visiting accreditation team his junior year. He has been a member of the golf team and a track official at the University of Maine.

Michael Adams, son of Tammy and Richard Adams of Frankfort, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2005.

He has been a member of the National Honor Society his junior and senior year and National Junior Honor Society his freshman year. He was a student of the quarter in his sophomore year, and maintained high honors all four years. He presented at the fall conference of the Coalition of Essential Schools in San Francisco on its role and function and again at the spring forum in Portland.

Adams played baseball all four years, and was in the Eastern Maine runner-up team of 2003-04. He played basketball every year and was captain of the junior varsity team his sophomore year. He participated in golf three years and was captain his senior year. He was active in the school band, played in concert, marching and pep band all four years as well as jazz band his freshman and sophomore years. He served as a member of the civil rights team, was selected to Boys State his junior year, and has been in Who’s Who Among High School Students all four years.

Abby Tripp, daughter of Jean Tripp of Belfast and Robert Tripp of Frankfort, was selected for first honor part for the Class of 2005.

She was a member of National Honor Society her junior and senior years as well as National Junior Honor Society her freshman year. She has been a student of the quarter and first-place winner of the contest sponsored by the Holocaust Human Rights Center of Maine. She played varsity soccer all four years and was part of the state championship team her sophomore year. She earned honorable mention in the Penobscot Valley Conference her junior year and second team her senior year.

Tripp played junior varsity basketball for two years and varsity basketball her junior and senior years. She participated in track her freshman and sophomore years, and played softball in her junior and senior years. She has been a member of the concert, marching and pep bands in her junior and senior years.

Stacey Brassbridge, daughter of Gayle and Kenneth Brassbridge of Frankfort, was selected for second honor part for the Class of 2005.

She was a member of the National Honor Society her sophomore, junior and senior years, and president in her senior year. She has been a member of Girl Scouts all four years, vice president in her junior year, and president in her senior year. She attended Girls State her junior year and was in Who’s Who Among American High School Students all four years. She was student of the month in her junior year, and participated in marching, concert and pep bands all four years.

Brassbridge played junior varsity basketball in freshman year and varsity basketball in her sophomore, junior and senior years. She also ran cross country her sophomore, junior and senior years, and was a captain in her junior and senior years. She participated in track and field all four years and was captain in her junior and senior years.

Tyson McHatten, son of Annie and John McHatten of Frankfort, was selected for third honor part for the Class of 2005.

He was inducted into National Honor Society his junior year and was in National Junior Honor Society his freshman year. He had high achievement in biology, algebra, French, health, physical science, and English. He was student of the quarter his sophomore year, received an honorable mention in the Maine Secretary of State’s essay contest, and won the Holocaust Human Rights Center of Maine’s Student of the Year Award. He participated in concert, marching and pep band all four years and played baseball all four years. He was a member of the golf team and played basketball his senior year.
