Morrill helps Penquis top Schenck

EAST MILLINOCKET – Justin Morrill stroked a two-run single and Keith Nason added an RBI single to lead the Penquis Valley Patriots to a 7-6 baseball victory over Schenck Wednesday.

Brian Salley had two singles and an RBI for Penquis of Milo.

Jesse Cram knocked a two-run single and Shawn Landry and Jesse Duffy each had an RBI single for the Wolverines. Duffy also had an RBI groundout.

At Hermon, Brian McGinley hit an RBI single to tie the game and the winning run came home on a delayed double steal in the third as the host Hawks held on for victory.

Travis Estes notched the win in relief after pitching 5 1/3 innings of three-hit, shutout ball while notching eight strikeouts and two walks.

McGinley had four singles and an RBI for the Hawks. Josh Kane had two singles and two RBIs, and Jason Tarr hit a two-run homer in the second. All three were seniors starring on seniors’ day.

At Corinth, Tom Collins allowed just one run on two hits and one walk while striking out four to push Central past Bangor Christian in the first of two games on the day.

Anthony Lancisi had a double and two singles to drive in three runs for Central. Brian Parker and Matt Eriksson each hit a two-run double. Collins and Josh Underhill both had two singles with an RBI.

Tory Dearborn and Phil Dougherty both singled for Bangor Christian.

At Guilford, Tim McCarthy hit a three-run home run in the first inning and two singles to drive in five runs to lead Dexter to the win.

Chris Rabideau had two singles and a double with four RBIs for the Tigers and Aaron Woodman had three singles. Eric Day hit a two-run double and a single.

Mike Burnett hit a two-run double in the first inning for Piscataquis and Justin Davis had an RBI single.

At Searsport, Tyson McHatten and Matt Nickerson combined on a three-hit shutout as the Vikings earned their 13th win.

McHatten also had two singles, a double and three RBIs, while Sean Johnson had a two-run homer and a single and finished with three RBIs.

Ryan Shute added a pair of singles for Searsport.

Joey Kane, Anthony Lancisi and Kurt Smith singled for Central of Corinth.

At Harrington, senior right-hander Cory Worcester pitched a complete-game two-hitter with 18 strikeouts and three walks as host Narraguagus earned the win.

The Thomas College-bound Worcester, who finished the regular season with a 6-2 pitching record, also had a double and two singles.

Jeff Taylor added two doubles and three RBIs, while Matt Tenan singled twice.

Jamie Farley and Matt O’Brien each singled for Calais.

At Thorndike, Mike Mayer pitched a six-hit shutout as Mount View kept its playoff hopes alive.

Mayer struck out three and walked no one while not allowing an extra-base hit.

The Mustangs scored both their runs in the bottom of the sixth off Rockland starter Josh Fogg, who allowed just seven hits.

Ben Raven was hit by a pitch with one out, and Kyle Harvey singled. An error was made on Eric Eddy’s fielder’s choice grounder that allowed Raven to score. Ben Ward then singled home Harvey.

Harvey had two singles for Mount View, while John Wentworth added a double.

At Deer Isle, Larry Dan stroked a two-run single to key a six-run sixth inning for the Eagles of Blue Hill.

Lucas Marks slammed a three-run homer and added an RBI single for George Stevens. Colin Henry added a single and three RBIs while Phineas Peake tripled and singled.

John Easton hit a solo homer and RBI single for the Mariners and Ben Hardy singled twice.

At Lee, Kent Doane hit a three-run home run and a two-run double to lead the Pandas to their 13th victory.

Everett Houghton had a two run homer and an RBI single for Lee, while Charlie Boulrisse hit three singles and Tyler Thompson had two singles and an RBI.

Senior Gerry Worster improved his record to 5-2 with a two-hitter. The righty struck out seven and walked four.

Patrick Willett had a single and a sacrifice fly for Katahdin of Stacyville, while Oneil Qualey also singled.

At Searsport, Alyssa Libby allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out 12 to lead Central of Corinth to the win.

Traci Underhill had a double and three singles for Central. Jenny Rollins had three singles and Libby added two singles.

Sheila Wilbur and Theresa Cameron hit RBI doubles in the sixth inning for Searsport.

At East Millinocket, Dani Graves allowed two runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out 12 to lead Penquis of Milo past Schenck.

Kayla Goodine doubled and singled with two RBIs for Penquis and Ashley Pelletier doubled and singled. Michelle Mulherin hit an RBI double and Graves doubled.

Kayla Osborn doubled and singled for Schenck. Melissa Rideout added two singles.

At Guilford, Katie Poirier’s two-run single in the top of the seventh rallied the Tigers past the Pirates.

Sabrina Cote had three singles and Nikki Chapman two singles for Dexter.

Kelly Martell singled twice and scored four runs for Piscataquis. Kristi Levesque tripled.

At Newport, Patrice Cianchette fired a one-hit shutout, striking out seven and walking only three for the Warriors.

Alyssa Bragdon led off the Nokomis sixth with a single, moved to third on a single by Holly Bates and scored on a squeeze bunt by Tricia Cossar.

Jamie Gomm scattered five hits while striking out eight for the Indians. Amanda Littlefield singled for their lone hit.
