First Congregational Church on Meadow Street will celebrate its 200th anniversary June 11-12 with a round of activities. Founded on July 24, 1805, by nine people, the church is actually older than the town, which was chartered six years later. The Rev. Douglas Drown has been pastor since 1977. A Kidz Karnival will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11. The Christian rock band Modern-day Jeremiah, from the East Orrington Congregational Church, will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the town bandstand on Milford Avenue. On Sunday, June 12, activities will include a Communion service at 9:30 a.m. at Bingham’s Old Free Meeting House. The church’s bicentennial service will be held at 4 p.m. Following the service, the congregation will meet at Valley High School for a catered banquet. For information, call 672-3380.
