BANGOR – A Corinth man pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to charges related to the armed robbery of a Milford gas station nearly three years ago.

Joseph Scott Reeves, 24, pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of firearms, robbing a business involved in interstate commerce, and using a firearm to commit the robbery.

He faces a total of up to 37 years in prison and fines of up to $750,000.

A sentencing date has not been set.

Reeves and Neal Ray Colby, 22, of Palmyra admitted robbing the Exxon station on Route 2 in Milford.

The pair, armed and wearing caps and blue bandannas partially covering their faces, entered the Exxon station at about 8:50 p.m. Sept. 27, 2002. They forced the 16-year-old clerk to lie on the floor and then stole a moneybag containing about $220, according to court documents.

The two were charged in federal court because the gas station is considered to be a business in an industry that affects interstate commerce.

Colby was sentenced in October to four years in federal prison.

Reeves also admitted Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Bangor to stealing at least six firearms from a Palmyra residence.
