Thomas sparks Orono win Presque Isle, Penquis, Trenton pick up victories

OLD TOWN – Dustin Thomas hit a solo homer leading of the bottom of the seventh, his second round-tripper of the game, to give the Orono Twins a 8-7 American Legion baseball victory over Waldo Tuesday.

Thomas knocked a three-run homer to spark a four-run Orono second inning. Cory Estes doubled and singled while Jarrett Lukas added two singles.

Noah Burke slammed a solo homer in the top of the sixth to tie the score for the Wildcats and Ryan Shute notched three singles.

Presque Isle 8, Calais 5

At Calais, Henry Austin belted a two-run homer in the second inning to give the Patriots a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Kevin Baker slapped an RBI double for Presque Isle while Spencer King and Dan Michaud each had two singles.

James Ramsdell collected two doubles, a single and drove in two runs for the Suns. Cory Colbeth singled, tripled and scored three runs. Steve Colbeth and Aaron Sullivan added an RBI single apiece.

Trenton 4, Hampden 2

At Ellsworth, Adam Cousins hit a two-run double in the sixth and Andy Pooler scattered three hits while striking out seven as the Acadians earned the victory.

Blake Wessel, Collin Henry and Harrison Hines each singled twice for Trenton.

Ian Lee hit two RBI singles for Hampden.

Penquis 8, Lincoln 4

At Husson College in Bangor, Justin Freeman and Tim McCarthy each hit an RBI single as the Navigators prevailed.

Josh Pelletier slammed an RBI double for Penquis.

Tyler Thompson had a two-run single and doubled to pace Lincoln and Josh Seavey singled twice.
