Old Town’s Canoe Hullabaloo to end on Saturday with singer

OLD TOWN – The River Coalition and the Old Town Public Library will continue the second annual Canoe Hullabaloo today through Saturday, July 16, at Riverfront Park.

Twenty-five artists will have the opportunity to be a part of Canoe Hullabaloo by transforming a regular canoe into a work of art.

A Canoe Auction will be held as one of the final events at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 16, with all proceeds going to the River Coalition – a nonprofit organization that focuses its time, talent and funds for the benefit of all children and their families in the river communities of Alton, Bradley, Greenbush, Indian Island, Milford and Old Town.

A juried craft show will be held July 16 in the parking lot connected to Old Town’s Riverfront Park as one of the major events on the final day.

The week will conclude with a concert by Maine singer-songwriter David Mallett at 7 p.m.

July 14: Lilianne Labbe & Don Hinkley, 6:30-7:15 p.m.

July 15: Spilled Milk, rock band with popular songs, 6:30-8 p.m.; barbecue, 4:30-6:30 p.m.

July 16: Boosters breakfast, 7-9 a.m.; road race registration, 7:30-9 a.m.; Sukulis Penobscot Drummers, 10-10:45 a.m., stage; magician Wes Booth, 11-11:45 a.m., stage; John Bear Mitchell, Penobscot storyteller, noon-12:45 p.m., stage; Nick Noonon, 1-1:45 p.m., stage; Clyde Folsom, 2-2:45 p.m., stage; announcement of races, 3-4 p.m.; YMCA children’s mini-carnival, noon-3 p.m.; professional canoe race registration, noon-1 p.m.; Flip the Clown working the crowd, 1-3 p.m.; beano, 3-4 p.m.; professional race awards, 4 p.m.; climbing wall, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; craft fair, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; silent auction, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; chainsaw sculptor Joe Bolf, 9 a.m. until finished; bean supper, 4-5 p.m.; canoe auction, 5-6:45 p.m.; Native American closing, 6:45 p.m.; Dave Mallett in concert, 7-8:30 p.m.
