Duff, Ashey lead Bangor East

HAMPDEN – Nick Ashey had two doubles and three RBIs and Greg Duff added three singles and three RBIs as the Bangor East District 3 9-10 squad remained undefeated with an 11-5 win over Old Town Wednesday.

Brendan Moore added a single and an RBI in support of winning pitcher Reed Brookings, who pitched a four-hitter with seven strikeouts.

Bangor East took control of the game with seven unearned runs in the top of the third to take a 7-1 lead.

Cameron Archer, who scattered nine hits on the mound for Old Town, also had two singles and two RBIs. Gabe Melmed added a double and a single.

Bangor West 8, Orrington 3

At Hampden, Tyler Laplante hit a solo homer in the third and singled as Bangor West ousted Orrington.

Bobby Winchell doubled, singled and plated a run while Hunter Boyce added two singles and an RBI for Bangor West.

Ryan Gagne knocked an RBI single and Kurt Masse hit a pair of singles for Orrington.

At Hampden, Zach Violette gave up only one hit and struck out seven in four innings to lead Brewer to victory.

Spencer Valley paced Brewer with a double, single and two RBIs and Violette added a single and RBI.

Dakotah Jordan singled for Lincoln.

Bucksport 9, Machias 1

At Bucksport, Cody Davis scattered just one run on one hit while striking out eight and helped his cause with two singles and two RBIs as Bucksport eliminated Machias.

Cody Miller tallied two singles and three RBIs while Tyler French doubled and singled for Bucksport.

Seth Maker singled for Machias.

At Patten, Brian Burns had three singles and three RBIs as Bangor West rolled.

Brandon Lane added with two singles, and both Phil Frost and Joe Stanevicz had doubles. Jack Stacey had eight strike-outs in a complete-game effort.

Kolby Gallagher led Katahdin with two singles and an RBI. Cody Cunningham added a single.

At Machias, Sarah Smith hit a pair of two-run triples to lead Machias to victory.

Tiffany Preston knocked an RBI double for Machias and Giselle Dubois an RBI single.

Jenna Beal and Andrea Perry had an RBI single apiece for Sunrise

At Bangor, Hermon produced 12 runs in the third inning with the help of Kristen Wilcox’s three-run home run and a three-run triple by Abby Burgess en route to the win.

Beth DeCoste added with a double and a single for Hermon.

Kelcey Stewart for Lincoln hit two singles, and Alyssa Thurlow had a single with two RBIs.
