Anson firm fined for clear-cutting

An Anson company was fined this week for illegally clear-cutting a forest in Charleston.

T.R. Dillon Logging will pay a $2,000 fine for creating a 35-acre clear-cut without having consulted a forester or produced a harvest plan, both of which are required by Maine’s Forest Practices Act.

The logging company and landowner Gilbert Burger, of Rhode Island, shared responsibility for the error.
