Police: Speed probably a factor in one-car crash in Brewer

Three Brewer juveniles were involved in a single-vehicle accident at 9:22 p.m. Sunday on Parkway South in Brewer.

The vehicle they were in went off the road, hit some trees, bushes and a ditch, Brewer police Cpl. David Lord said.

Brewer rescue responded to the scene and transported all three juveniles to Eastern Maine Medical Center. Since the accident is still under investigation, the severity of injuries and whether the juveniles were admitted to the hospital was not released.

Lord said there was no reason to believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash that destroyed the vehicle, but speed probably was.

After running a red light driving north on Hogan Road in Bangor on Sunday evening, a Bangor woman was struck by a vehicle being driven by a woman from Limerick.

Police reports said Linda Szostek, 55, of Bangor ran a red light as she was traveling north on Hogan Road toward Springer Drive and was hit by Jodie Condon, 21, of Limerick, who was entering the road from the I-95 southbound exit ramp.

Szostek’s 1999 two-door Chevrolet car had $2,500 in damage, while Condon’s 2004 Chevrolet SUV had $3,500 in damage.

Szostek, Condon and Condon’s passenger, Melissa Poirier, 20, all complained of injuries at the scene.

Police reports do not indicate any charges being brought against Szostek for the accident.

After entering Bangor Mall Boulevard from a parking lot, a vehicle driven by a male juvenile from Brewer collided with one driven by an Ashland man late Sunday afternoon.

The juvenile pulled out of the parking lot in Bangor, hitting the vehicle of Douglas Kidder, 26, of Ashland, according to police reports.

The collision caused $3,000 in damage to the juvenile’s two-door 2005 Pontiac car and $3,000 in damage to Kidder’s two-door 1995 Chevrolet.

Kidder, his juvenile passenger and the Brewer juvenile all complained of injuries at the scene. Bangor Fire and Rescue responded to the incident. The report did not specify if anyone was hospitalized.
