PORTLAND – Pitcher Craig Hansen, a 2005 first-round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox, has been assigned to Double-A Portland, the team announced Thursday.

Hansen, 21, made two appearances in the Single-A Gulf Coast League, working a perfect relief inning with two strikeouts and getting a win in his debut.
