Bird, Houghton power Lee past SAHS

DYER BROOK – Karin Bird scored three goals and Dana Houghton added two to lead the Lee Academy Pandas to a 9-0 schoolgirl soccer victory over the Southern Aroostook Warriors Wednesday.

Aarika Ritchie and Amanda Gifford each added a goal and an assist for the winners and Brooke Harris and Kimmy Thurlow had a goal apiece. Jackie Moors, Harris and Gifford combined for four saves on four shots.

For 1-2 SAHS, Shana Martin and Audrey Charette combined for 20 saves on 39 shots.

Boys soccer

Lee 1, Southern Aroostook 0

At Dyer Brook Tuesday, Doob Dow caught up with a shot that rolled wide past goalie Colby Clark on the left side and kicked the ball into the net with 2:45 left in the first overtime to give Lee the victory.

Minh Gu Rhee, who took the initial shot and drew Clark out, was credited with the assist for the 1-0 Pandas. Kris King saved all five shots he faced.

Clark made 10 saves on 11 shots for the 2-1 Southern Aroostook Warriors of Dyer Brook.

Field Hockey

Home 3, Away 1

At Hampden, Amy Collinsworth from Stearns in Millinocket scored all three goals as the Home team prevailed in the PVC Senior All-Star game.

Old Town’s Kitty Campbell and Zora Merrill of Brewer were the goaltenders for the winners.

Anna O’Neil of Orono scored the Away team’s goal. Tammy Savage from Mattanawcook in Lincoln and Sarah Hanselman of Bangor were the goaltenders.
