MOUNT SNOW, Vt. – Adam Craig of Corinth capped off his run at the final stop of the NORBA National Mountain Bike Series over the weekend with his first-ever victory in the men’s pro short-track cross country division.
Craig, 24, set a frenetic early pace in the 20-minute timed event on a rain-soaked course. Initially, Craig made his move on the final half-lap, attacking Canadian Geoff Kabush on a slippery descent and opening up a slight lead that he held for the remainder of the race.
The win enabled Craig to finish third in the final NORBA short-track standings. Kabush won his second straight short-track title, with American Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski second.
Craig competes this weekend at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Livigno, Italy, before returning to the United States to compete in the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships set for Sept. 15-18 at Mammoth Mountain, Calif.
