Cyr, Rice spark Foxcroft; PCHS, Dexter post wins

FOXCROFT – Molly Cyr scored two goals to lead the Foxcroft Academy Ponies to a 2-1 high school field hockey victory over the Nokomis Warriors Friday in the mutual opener.

Morgan Rice made 11 saves on 13 shots for 1-0 Foxcroft Academy.

Erin Knight scored a goal with nine minutes left for 0-1 Nokomis of Newport. Lauren Lancaster stopped 13 of 15 shots.

JV: 0-0

Piscataquis 4, Brewer 0

At Guilford, Kellie Martel scored three goals to push Piscataquis past Brewer.

Hattie Agnew added a goal for 1-0 Piscataquis and Jessica Pratt faced no shots.

Zora Merrill made 11 saves on 20 shots for 0-1 Brewer.

JV: Piscataquis 8-0

Dexter 2, Central 1

At Corinth, Jana Kenny and Vanessa Hartford had a goal apiece as the Tigers prevailed in each team’s opener.

Nicci Burton and Brooke Mountain each had an assist for Dexter. Karie Doirier stopped 12 out of 13 shots.

Hillary Haney scored off a pass from Traci Underhill for the Red Devils. Kara Voisine had two saves on four shots.

JV: Central 2-1

Belfast 3, Winslow 1

At Belfast, Jillian Ross scored two second-half goals to help lead Belfast to victory.

Kelsey Jackson scored a goal for 1-0 Belfast. Britt Cummings, Kallie Aldus, and Jamie Flagg each had an assist. Liz Anderson made no saves on one shot.

Nicole Bombardi scored an unassisted goal with 20 minutes left in the second half for 0-1 Winslow. Emma Watters stopped 17 of 20 shots.

JV: Belfast 1-0

Camden Hills 1, Mount View 0

At Rockport, Megan Bauer scored on a Georgia Smith assist with 15:58 left in the first half to give Camden Hills the win.

Dale Whinsper stopped all 11 shots for 1-0 Camden Hills.

Carrie Beverage stopped one of two shots for 0-1 Mount View of Thorndike.

JV: Mount View 2-1
