An active, pretty teenager with brown hair and sparkling brown eyes, Spring has a great sense of humor and a great attitude that attracts people to her. She is able to form lasting relationships, loves animals and is willing to help with chores around the barn and house. Spring loves to sing, listen to CDs, read books and play sports.

Spring, 14, really wants to have a family of her own, especially a mother. She currently is in a program that is teaching her independent skills as part of her special education curriculum. She has a language-processing problem that affects her short-term memory and has mild intellectual limitations.

Her teachers say she is doing well in school and they enjoy having her in their classes. Spring is enthusiastic about school and is forming friendships with other kids in her class.

Spring came into the care of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services in November 1997. She has been in five placements since coming into care. Spring has been described by her current care providers as “blossoming” in her living and school situation and has made great strides in the past two years.

The ideal family for Spring would be a two-parent family or single female parent that will give her the love and support she needs to continue to make gains in her home and school environments. She needs a family that can provide structure, boundaries and supervision for her to feel safe and to succeed in the family.

A truly special child, Spring will need an understanding family that is willing to work with her and to repeat things to her until she is able to process the information into her long-term memory. Her appreciation and joy will be rewarding for the family that has made the commitment to this special, loving child.

Spring would like her adoptive home to be open to pets since she would like to bring her rabbit with her to her new home. Adoption subsidy may be available for the most appropriate family.
