Sebasticook sweeps Penquis

NEWPORT – Sebasticook used clutch late-game hitting to sweep a doubleheader, 14-8 and 13-9 over Penquis Saturday in American Legion baseball action.

In game one, Sebasticook scored eight runs in the fifth inning including a triple and a single with three RBIs by Tom Twombley. Justin Veazie added three singles with three RBIs while both Shawn Henderson and Phil Hendricks ripped two singles.

Tom Mason and Seth Strout led the Penquis attack with a double and single with two RBIs apiece.

In game two, James Lister nailed a home run and a triple with four RBIs to aid Sebasticook in scoring 13 runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Steve Kennedy and Justin Veazie each ripped a triple and a single.

James Gray led Penquis with two singles with two RBIs as Billy Cane tripled.

Trenton, Bangor split

At Bangor, the Acadians and the Comrades split a doubleheader, with Trenton winning the first game 17-5 and Bangor rallying in the second game 9-5.

In the first game, Jacob Lowell knocked in four runs on a triple, a double and a single. Brandon Colbeth hit three singles for two RBIs and Derek Awalt added two RBIs on two singles. Shawn Bouchard led Bangor with two singles and an RBI. Andy Treadwell singled twice.

In the second game, Andrew Sullivan hit a two-run single for the Comrades. Bill Chapman singled three times and knocked in a run, while Kevin Proctor and Bouchard each singled twice. Bodi Abbot paced the Acadians with an RBI single. Chad Smith hit two singles.
