Hale leads Bangor Christian girls past Central

CORINTH – Brooke Hale scored two goals and assisted on a third Wednesday afternoon, propelling Bangor Christian to a 5-3 schoolgirl soccer victory over Central.

Amber Leathers, Kristen Pelletier and Morgan Chasse tallied a goal apiece for 1-0 Bangor Christian. Mariah Bach made 21 saves on 29 shots.

Marissa Haney scored a goal and had an assist while Emily Blackwell and Kelsie McHugh each added a goal for the 0-2 Red Devils. Jessica Daniel saved 11 of 26 shots.

John Bapst 7, Foxcroft 2

At Dover-Foxcroft, Whitney Sinclair and Maggie Kane each scored two goals to lead the John Bapst Crusaders past Foxcroft Academy.

Molly Jones, Sara Lammert, and Hayley Cutri each scored a goal for the 2-0 Crusaders. Caroline Cassling made five saves on eight shots.

For the 1-1 Ponies, Leslie Martin scored both goals. Brittany Fadley and Lauren Kousaie combined for 13 saves on 20 shots.

JV: John Bapst 5, Foxcroft 0

Sumner 4, DI-Stonington 1

At East Sullivan, Kylie Bragdon knocked in two goals to lift the Tigers past the Mariners.

Lona Sargent and Kayla Higgins added a goal apiece. Higgins split time in net with Whitney Page, and they combined for 19 saves on 23 shots for 2-0 Sumner.

Claire Eaton scored the goal for Deer Isle-Stonington. Anika Powers had 15 saves on 19 shots.

Limestone 6, Easton 1

At Easton, Ellie Dunn led Limestone to victory with two goals and an assist.

Logan Cousins, Leanne Kelly, Brittany King and Calli Cote each added a goal for the Eagles. Melanie Allen stopped 10 out of 21 shots.

Lindsay White scored with an assist from Kassie Lovely for the Bears. Brianna White and Cassie Lovely combined for 33 saves on 38 shots.

Boys soccer

Dexter 6, Penobscot Valley 1

At Dexter, Dan Beatham knocked in four goals as the Tigers clawed the Howlers.

Rick Stewart notched two goals and two assists for 3-0 Dexter. Adam Eastman added an assist. Chris Eastman made six saves on seven shots.

Richard Theriault scored unassisted for 0-2 PVHS of Howland. Brian Harris stopped 14 out of 25 shots.

Piscataquis 4, Penquis 1

At Milo, Andy Zimmerman and Roy Burdin each had a goal and an assist to lead the Piscataquis Pirates of Guilford to the victory.

Mike Wharff and John Billstone each scored a goal for the 2-1 Pirates. Ryan Martell saved five of seven shots.

Leigh Dolley scored on a Brad Brown assist for the 0-3 Patriots. Nick Emery made 15 saves on 23 shots.

MCI 8, Rockland 0

At Pittsfield, Dustin Varney knocked in two goals in the first half and another in the second to lead the Huskies to victory.

Mark Neace scored two goals while Branden Glencross, Guillermo Torras and Trevin Ming each added one. Glencross, Ming and Kyle Liimatinen all had an assist. Tristian Gowey saved one out of four shots for 2-0 MCI.

Mike Norman stopped 10 out of 20 shots for 0-2 Rockland.

Narraguagus 2, Jonesport-Beals 1

At Jonesport, Donnie Bradbury scored the winning goal, assisted by Aaron Dublin off a throw in, 2:53 into the second half to lift the Knights of Harrington to the win.

Brandon Dugay scored the equalizer one minute prior to the winning goal. Ben Grant stopped nine out of 13 shots for 1-0 Narraguagus.

Michael Smith scored 37:00 into the first half for the 0-1 Royals. Ben Ellis had 19 saves on 27 shots.

Calais 1, Shead 0

At Eastport, Jacob Ludington scored an unassisted goal early in the first half to lift the Blue Devils to victory in their opener.

Scott Geel made four saves on nine shots for 1-0 Calais.

Craig Hastings stopped six out of nine shots for the 0-3 Tigers.

Woodland 2, Machias 1

At Machias, Brandon Tomah scored the second of his two unassisted goals with 24:14 left in regulation to give the Dragons the victory.

Craig Moody had eight saves on 10 shots for 1-0 Woodland.

Jacob Stevens scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs, now 1-1. Mike Little had the assist. Garrett Getchell stopped 12 out of 15 shots.

Easton 3, Limestone/MSSM 1

At Easton, Jared Flewelling scored the go-ahead goal with 30:58 left in the second half as the Bears improved their record to 5-5 on the season.

Nick Flewelling, who assisted on his cousin’s goal, added an insurance tally on a Bradley Trask assist.

Easton’s Seth Cleaves scored with 59 seconds left in the first half to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics got the equalizer with 37:27 left when Brad Culley scored on a Mark Leach assist.

Easton’s Jeremy Brock made 20 saves on 27 shots, while A.J. Rossignol made 18 saves on 29 shots for Limestone.

Katahdin 1, SAHS 1

At Stacyville, Southern Aroostook’s Logan Edwards scored the equalizer, which was assisted by Robert Toothaker, five minutes into the second half.

Patrick Willett scored Katahdin’s goal, assisted by O’neil Qualey, only three minutes later.

Burton Brayall stopped 13 of 20 shots for Katahdin. Tyler Robinson saved 11 of 22 shots for the Warriors of Dyer Brook.
