BANGOR – Following are city meetings and other activities for this week. All will be held in City Council chambers at City Hall unless otherwise indicated.
. Monday: 5 p.m. City Council workshop, update from water district; 5:30 p.m., council executive session regarding disposition of waterfront parcels on Front Street; 6 p.m., council executive session regarding negotiations with Penn National Gaming Inc. on permanent gaming facility; 7:30 p.m., regular council meeting, agenda includes first readings of ordinances regarding issuance of $6.5 million in bonds for city projects and purchases and increasing rates for taxicab fares, accepting and appropriating federal homeland security funds, authorizing option agreement regarding Bangor waterfront parcel on Front Street, airport parking garage design bid award, establishing special downtown parking advisory committee.
. Tuesday: 4 p.m. groundbreaking ceremony for new police station, 240 Main St.; 5 p.m., City Council government operations committee, agenda includes ambulance billing agreement with Lincoln Fire Department, mutual aid agreement with Maine Air National Guard for fire service, professional services contract with Dr. Robert Bowie for oversight of Fire Department’s emergency medical service program, report on usage and season pass cost increase for Pancoe Pool, update on noise concerns at Club Gemini.
. Wednesday: 5 p.m., City Council business and economic development committee, agenda includes tentative developer status for Sunbury Medical Properties LLC for lot in Maine Business Enterprise Park, water district request to sublet property leased from city, review of draft letter urging businesses to support Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau and Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce, state legislation governing operation of slot machines, Eastern Area Agency on Aging letter of interest regarding redevelopment of former Naval Reserve Center on Essex Street, executive session to for negotiations with Penview Associates LLC regarding condominium project; 7 p.m., harbor committee, harbor master’s office, Bangor Waterfront, agenda includes walking tour to review waterfront improvements, update on emergency medical response capabilities, harbor master’s report, flood preparedness, impact of fuel costs on waterfront usage.
. Thursday: 5 p.m. City Council personnel committee, interview of candidates for city committees.
