Gallant leads Rams past Brunswick; Broncos win

BRUNSWICK – Alex Gallant carried the ball 29 times for 219 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bangor Rams to a 21-6 high school football victory over the Brunswick Dragons Friday night.

Gallant ran 70 yards in a first- quarter play to give the Rams an early lead.

After a 17-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter from TJ Thompson to Travis O’Dell, Bangor denied the two-point conversion, which would’ve given Brunswick the lead.

Quarterback Ian Edwards ended a 70-yard drive in the third with a 7-yard touchdown off a keeper.

With five minutes left to play, Gallant carried the ball for 20 yards and a touchdown.

Tyson Barron nailed all three of his PATs.

At Old Town, Steven Siviski threw for a touchdown and ran for another as the Black Raiders rolled to the win.

Kevin McCabe caught an 11-yard pass from Siviski in the first half, while Siviski ran 18 yards for a score. Jared Maroon scored three times and Winslow also picked up a safety en route to a 30-0 first-quarter lead.

Old Town’s Jarrett Lukas ran 63 yards for a touchdown, and also threw a 45-yard pass to Justin Morin for another. Jake Thompson also scored for the Indians. Jared Goody and Nate Emerson each racked up 10 tackles on defense.

Hampden 17, MDI 6

At Hampden, fullback Som Ratsongonsky rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Broncos past the Mount Desert Island Trojans.

Ratsongonsky posted 3-yard TD runs in each of the first two periods, and Chris Morris, who had already kicked two extra points, completed the Hampden scoring with a 27-yard field goal.

After Hampden Academy took a 17-0 lead, MDI got on the board with a 35-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Crawford to Collin Watson.

Defensively, Hampden defensive end Drew Chase had a blocked kick, two sacks, and eight tackles. As middle linebacker, Ratsongonsky also had 12 tackles.

At Augusta, Mason Barker completed nine of 11 passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns, including a 36-yard touchdown pass to Arthur Trask.

Mike Toothaker rushed nine times for 101 yards and two touchdowns.

The defense forced five first-half turnovers and held Cony to 99 yards of total offense.

Brewer 22, Gardiner 16

At Gardiner, senior quarterback Ricky Porter rushed for 204 yards on 13 carries, including touchdown runs of three and 73 yards, to lead Brewer to victory in the Class B showdown.

After Gardiner jumped out to a 13-0 lead, Porter ran for the 3-yard TD and Dan Juilli added a PAT kick to cut it to 13-7 at the half.

Brewer then pulled ahead in the third quarter as Ben Caldwell scored on a 1-yard run and Porter broke loose for the 73-yard score.

Nick Jamison had opened the scoring for Gardiner on a 1-yard run and Kerry Ramsey caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Stilphen.

Mattanawcook 21, Lisbon 14

At Lincoln, Jason Murchison rushed for the game-winning touchdown and 73 yards on 10 carries to help keep the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx unbeaten and beat previously unbeaten and unscored-upon Lisbon.

For the Lynx, Dylan Hanscom scored the first touchdown on a one-yard run in the first quarter and then Randy Reed made it 12-0 in the first quarter with another one-yard TD plunge. Murchison made it 21-0 in the third quarter with a 47-yard run and Hanscom converted the two-point conversion rush.

Levi Ervin scored two touchdowns on runs of one and two yards in the fourth quarter to break the Greyhounds’ scoring drought.
