Fort Kent teen earns Eagle Scout distinction

FORT KENT – Paul Thibodeau, 14, of Troop 189 received his Eagle Scout rank on June 17.

While in Scouts, Thibodeau served in leadership capacities including patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader. He also participated in spring and fall camporees in Aroostook County, and attended summer camp at Katahdin Scout Reservation for one week each of the past four summers. During his last summer at Katahdin, he focused on his preparation for the Eagle rank, earning many of the badges while he was there.

For his service project, Thibodeau undertook the construction of a permitted campsite at the confluence of Falls Brook and the St. Francis River. The project will benefit the community by providing an attractive and safe environment for camping and picnicking. The project included the construction of a picnic table, fire ring and two tenting sites.Thibodeau has been active in his church, and was a member of Fort Kent Community High School student council, band and jazz band. He also plays soccer and skis. He is the son of Jim and Nancy Thibodeau of Fort Kent.

The Fort Kent Lions Club sponsors the Fort Kent Boys Scouts.
