Kane, Haney power Devils past Howlers

CORINTH – Danny Kane tallied three goals to spark the Central Red Devils to a 4-0 shutout win over the Penobscot Valley Howlers in a high school boys soccer game Monday.

Joe Faggiole added a goal for 5-3 Central. Scott Kelley had two assists and Levi Nickerson also had an assist. Charles Haney made 13 saves on 17 shots.

Brian Harris stopped 20 of 28 shots for 2-6-1 Penobscot Valley of Howland.

Calvary Chapel 6, East Grand 3

At Danforth, Jon Burke and Luke Thomas both scored two goals to help lead Calvary Chapel Christian of Orrington to victory.

Jacob Thomas and Rosaire Veilliux each had a goal and an assist for 3-2 Calvary Chapel. Tim Arbo stopped seven of 12 shots.

Harvey Brittain, Mark Bartlett, and Nate Sixberry each scored a goal for 1-5-1 East Grand. Lucas Gillis and Adam Beadoin both had an assist. Ricky Parks made 18 saves on 33 shots.

Gr. Portland 4, Highview Chr. 1

At Charleston, Joseph Tshamal scored to goals to push Greater Portland Christian Academy to the win.

Alex Whalen and Mike Saunders both added goal for 3-1 Greater Portland Christian. Saunders and Geoff Taylor combined to stop four of 12 shots.

Josh Mountain scored 5:25 into the first half for 0-3-2 Highview Christian. Andrew Richard made 14 saves on 23 shots.

Shead 4, WA Raiders 4 (2OT)

At East Machias, Aaron Sullivan scored the second of his two goals in the second half for the Tigers of Eastport to force the tie.

Chris Newman and Mike Cummings tallied a goal apiece for Shead. Brandon LaPlante had 30 saves on 34 shots.

Steve Knowles, Ian Lookabaugh, Trevor Jesseman and Ben Veader each had a goal for the Radiers. Josiah Jackson blocked 30 of 34 shots.

Woodland 4, Jonesport-Beals 1

At Jonesport, Chad Kneeland scored at 11:57 in the first half to lead Woodland to victory.

Jeremy Burke, Todd Townsend, and Cody Sappier each added a goal for 5-1 Woodland. Craig Moody stopped seven of 17 shots.

Mikey Smith scored on a Josh Faulkingham assist for 0-6-1 Jonesport-Beals. Ben Ellis made 15 saves on 23 shots.

Machias 7, Calais 2

At Machias, Mike Little had a hat trick with three goals to push Machias to the win.

Isaiah Roberts scored two goals for 7-1 Machias. Zach McNally had a goal and three assists and Brian Millay added a goal. Garrett Getchell made five saves on seven shots.

Jacob Ludington scored both of 4-2 Calais’ goals. Scott Geel stopped five of 14 shots.

George Stevens 4, Searsport 0

At Blue Hill, Seth Brayton tallied two goals and one assist to lead the Eagles to the win.

Steve Ensworth and Austin Dobson each had a goal and an assist for 5-2-1 George Stevens. Collin Henry had nine saves on 14 shots.

Garrett Greenlaw made 11 saves on 25 shots for the 3-4 Vikings.

Ellsworth 6, Bucksport 0

At Ellsworth, Chris Baez scored twice to lead Ellsworth past Bucksport.

Ricky Trombley scored a goal and assisted another for 3-3 Ellsworth. Matt Homich, Chase Harding, and Chris Leighton each added a goal and Bryan Stackpole had an assist. Cory Smith and Greg Berry combined to stop four of six shots.

Miles Bisher made seven saves on 15 shots for 0-7 Bucksport.

Girls soccer

Lee Acad. 12, So. Aroostook 0

At Lee, Amanda Gifford scored four goals and assisted on another, powering the Pandas to victory.

Kimmy Thurlow scored three goals for 6-0 Lee Academy, while Marci Moors and Brooke Harris each posted a goal and an assist. Kerri Harris, Dana Houghton and Jodi Worcester scored one goal apiece and Karen Bird and Amy Lane added assists.

Jackie Moors made four saves on five shots.

Shana Martin collected 20 saves on 40 shots for 6-4-1 Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.

Greenville 10, Calvary Chapel 2

At Greenville, Tasha Elsmore tallied three goals as the Lakers rolled.

Kahla Lander notched three goals and two assists and Hannah Breton two goals and two assists for 7-0 Greenville. Beth Bartley and Olivia Walden added a goal each. Bartley and Breton combined for four saves on six shots.

Chantelle Veilleux scored both goals for 2-4 Calvary Chapel of Orrington. Hannah Lacadie stopped 20 of 30 shots.

Deer Isle-Stonington 2, Sumner 0

At Deer Isle, Tia Wood and Leti Douglas each scored an unassisted goal to lead the Mariners to their first win.

Anika Powers had 11 saves on 17 shots for the 1-6-1 winners.

Whitney Page stopped 13 of 21 shots for Sumner of East Sullivan, now 2-4.

Field hockey

Piscataquis 3, Stearns 0

At Guilford, Kaitlyn Smith, Heather Tracy, and Kellie Martel each scored a goal to push Piscataquis past Stearns of Millinocket.

Annie Agnew, Hattie Agnew, and Kelsey Martel all had an assist for 6-3 Piscataquis. Jessica Pratt made eight saves on 11 shots.

Deanna Michaud stopped seven of 19 shots for 6-2 Stearns.

Brewer 1, Bangor 1 (2OT)

At Bangor, Ingrid Alquist tied the game at 9:30 in the first half on a Katy MacDonald assist for Bangor.

Sarah Hanselman and Sarah Frisk combined to make 14 saves on 23 shots for 0-8-1 Bangor.

Emily Fraser scored at 5:30 into the first half for 0-7-1 Brewer. Zora Merrill stopped 12 of 20 shots.

JV: 0-0

Hermon 2, Nokomis 1

At Hermon, Christine Reynolds scored the winning goal with 28:32 left in the second half to lead Hermon past Nokomis of Newport.

Kate Campbell scored in the first half for 2-6 Hermon. Carrie Cole made nine saves on 10 shots.

Erin Knight scored with 11:26 left in the first half for 1-6 Nokomis. Jackie Flye stopped two of four shots.

JV: Hermon 2-1
