In the past we have read how Mainers for Immigration Reform placed the blame for many of our national problems on immigrants. Everything from the increasing crime rate (which actually decreased), to the Social Security problem has its roots in our immigration policy according to them. Now those pesky immigrants are prolonging the energy crisis and destroying the American standard of living.

Placing the blame for our country’s problems at the feet of American citizens who weren’t born here won’t solve them. Neither will simplistic explanations for living conditions in Third World countries.

I am fascinated by this new organization, the Hispanic Caucus. Surely, Mainers for Immigration Reform isn’t referring to American citizens of Hispanic origins. If this is the case, where will it stop? Will we have an Irish caucus, Italian caucus, Greek caucus, or maybe there will be a British agenda?

Imagine all these subversive groups working to alter our “true American lifestyle.” It would have to make better reading than anything from Mainers for Immigration Reform.
