Two events scheduled at Husson College For Tuesday, Oct. 11, will feature Thomas C. Dorr, U.S. Department of Agriculture’s undersecretary for rural development. Dorr will talk about rural development opportunities and programs, such as the Community Connect Broadband Grant Program, which is geared toward improving Internet access in rural areas, at a 7:30 a.m. Business Breakfast forum at Dickerman Dining Commons. Dorr also will be on hand for a Farm Bill listening forum scheduled for 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the college’s Richard E. Dyke Center for Family Business. The purpose of the forum is to solicit two-minute comments from farmers and rural residents about development of the 2007 Farm Bill. Some of the topics the public will be asked to address include the future viability of farming, the global economy, conservation and environmental stewardship.
