Ben Bishop

The University of Maine men’s ice hockey goalie Ben Bishop has been named the Superskills Hockey Rookie of the Week by Hockey East for the second straight week. Bishop allowed just one goal and had 15 saves in Friday night’s win over Denver. On Saturday night, he stopped 23 of 25 shots, including 11 shots on the power play.

Chris Willard

University of Southern Maine’s Chris Willard was named men’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Willard helped the Huskies to a 2-0 record allowing just one goal while making 22 saves during the two games.

Greg Cox

University of Southern Maine’s Greg Cox was named men’s soccer Rookie of the Week. In two games, the rookie had a goal and an assist in both of their wins.

Heather Hartman

University of Maine-Fort Kent’s Heather Hartman was noticed as the Sunrise Conference Deffensive Player of the Week. The sophomore goalkeeper earned two shutouts.

Heidi Jackson

University of Maine-Farmington’s Heidi Jackson was honored as the Women’s Soccer Rookie of the week. The defender helped limit Maine Maritime and Thomas to five shots a piece as UMF improved to 8-1-1 in conference play.

Jess Whittaker

Maine Maritime’s Jess Whittaker was named the NAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week. Whittaker helped the Mariners to a 4-1 record for the week with 46 digs and 11 aces.

Joe Fitzsimmons

University of Maine-Farmington’s Joe Fitzsimmons was named the NAC Men’s cross country runner of the week. Fitzsimmons ran a season personal best 27:54 at the State of Maine Meet. He placed 25th of 108 runners leading his team to a fifth place.

Kim MacDonald

University of Maine’s Kim MacDonlad was named the America East co-Rookie of the Week. On Sunday, the freshman scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season and led Maine to a 2-0 week.

Kristy Veazie

University of Maine-Farmington’s Kristy Veazie was honored as the NAC Field Hockey Player of the Week. Veazie helped carry UMF to a 2-0 record for the week scoring four goals and adding an assist.

Liza Benson

Colby College junior goalkeeper Liza Benson was honored as New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week. Benson had two shutouts to help the Mules to a 1-0-1 record last week. She had 14 saves in a 0-0 tie and five saves in a 1-0 victory.

Maria Williams

University of Maine-Fort Kent’s Maria Williams was noticed as Sunrise Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Williams scored three of the Bengals’ four goals and assisted on the other goal in a 2-0 week.

Noe’ Aparicio

University of Maine-Fort Kent’s Noe’ Aparicio was named Sunrise Conference Offensive Player of the Week. The sophomore midfielder cotrolled midfield and scored a goal against conference rival UM-Machias.

Sara Marzouk

University of Southern Maine’s Sara Marzouk was honored as women’s cross country Runner of the Week. Marzouk placed fourth overall in a field of 99 runners at the State of Maine Cross Country Championship. Her time of 19:58:86 led the Huskies to a fourth place finish out of nine teams.

Sean Platt

University of Maine-Fort Kent’s Sean Platt was noticed as Sunrise Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The sophomore scored the eventual game winning goal in a conference win over UM-Machias.

Sebastian Itman

University of Maine-Presque Isle’s Sebastian Itman was named the NCAA Independent Player of the Week. Itman scored three goals on the week and recorded one assist.

Teri Salwek

University of Maine-Farmington’s Teri Salwek was named the NAC women’s cross country rookie of the week. Salwek placed 48th at the Miane State Meet covering the course in a time of 22:29.
