Great Conversations slated Oct. 22 at UM

ORONO – Great Conversations, a program of the University of Maine College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at UM’s Memorial Union in the Bangor Room.

After a light lunch at noon, faculty from the college will lead discussions on topics including:

. “The Impact of the Changing Seasons on Mood and Behavior,” Sandra Sigmon, psychology professor.

. “The Necessity Of Utopia,” Naomi Jacobs, English professor.

. “Are We Alone in the Universe?” David Batuski, physics and astronomy professor.

. “Can We Be Nonviolent in These Times of Terror and Terrorism?” Douglas Allen, philosophy professor.

. “The Creative Economy, Sustainable Development and the Liberal Arts,” Tony Brinkley, associate professor of English.

. “The Forgotten Path of Christian Spirituality,” Kyriacos Markides, sociology professor.

. “Living with More than One Language,” Kathleen March, Spanish professor.
