Big School (Classes A-B)
SEAN LEEMAN
Leeman, a senior running back for the Belfast football team, rushed for 201 yards on 31 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead the Lions to a 26-0 Pine Tree Conference Class B victory at Mount Desert Island. Leeman scored on runs of 4, 56 and 3 yards as the Lions improved their record to 5-2 on the season.
Small School (Classes C-D)
DREW PICKERING
Pickering, a member of the Lee Academy cross country team, won top individual honors in the Class C division of the Penobscot Valley Conference championship meet held in Bangor. Pickering was timed in 18 minutes, 19.7 seconds, to edge Addison Pellerano of George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill by 6.4 seconds and lead the Pandas to a second-place finish in the team competition behind Orono.
GIRLS
Big School (Classes A-B)
ERIKA BLAUTH
The Camden Hills sophomore field hockey player scored the game-winning goal with three minutes left in the second overtime as the Windjammers tipped Waterville 1-0 last week. The Panthers went into the game with a 10-2-1 record, while the Windjammers were 6-6-1.
Small School (Classes C-D)
RENEE LAFLAMME
LaFlamme, a sophomore at Mattanawcook of Lincoln, posted the fastest individual time in the Penobscot Valley Conference Class C cross country championship Saturday to lead the Lynx to the team crown. LaFlamme toured the course in 20 minutes, 43.9 seconds. Her teammate, Casey McCloskey, finished in second place.
